Retreats

Matthew tells the story of being out on the Sea of Galilee in a terrible squall. The disciples panic and to make it worse-Jesus is asleep. They wake Him and frantically beg Him to save them from sure drowning. Jesus says calmly, “You of little faith, why are you afraid?” The disciples watch as Jesus stills the waters, their faith grows and they live to tell the tale. For us, life can seem like one terrifying, life-threatening crisis after another. In our fear, He asks us to stay in the boat and watch Him work.
It is vital to our spiritual lives to get away now and then and process the storms in our lives. Come out to our place by the river and get away for a few days. Come alone, with your spouse, or with your friends. Eat together, talk, process, walk the river path, hike in the hills, or just sit on the deck and rest.
