Darkest Moments

In your darkest moments, what ministers most to you? Ask a friend who has gone through something difficult a few questions. One, ‘What is the dumbest thing anyone has said to comfort you?’ Remember their answer and vow to never say that to anyone. Better to be slow to fix problems and quick to listen and feel.

Second, ask your hurting friend, ‘What ministers to you the most?’ Then do or say those things. 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4, the often quoted verse about comfort, encourages us that indeed; we learn to receive and give comfort through our pain.

Think about your own difficulties. How is God comforting you? What words or actions from others are helpful? How can you comfort others? Who can you support? Write out your thoughts and keep a list of people you could bless this way.
